Microsoft Hit With "Red Ring of Death" LawsuitThose of you whose Xbox 360 consoles suffered the infamous 'Red Ring Of Death' which killed it - ours included - may be interested to know that Microsoft has been hit with a class action lawsuit in California over the fiasco. The company may have extended the warranties and replaced dodgy or broken Xbox 360s but the action alleges that Microsoft knew about, and deliberately concealed, the chronic failure rate in order to ship more consoles before the arrival of the PS3 and Nintendo Wii. The suit cites numerous articles from gaming titles and on the Web which contend that Microsoft knew something was very wrong as far back as 2005. It says: "Those articles contend that Microsoft knew as far back as November 2005 that over 50% of the Xbox 360 consoles involved in the initial sales launch were defective. The class action lawsuit seeks an order that Microsoft disgorge all profits attributable to its sale of the Xbox 360, as well as that Microsoft publicly announce and implement a refund program in California."
